Overviews
Admission in the different medical colleges and hospitals of the country
for the purpose of producing medical professionals is done through various
entrance examinations. These entrance examinations are conducted by
the conducting boards or organizations at All India Level or State Level.
The purpose of conducting these entrance examinations is selection
of candidates for admission in the different medicine courses available
in different medical colleges & hospitals at diploma, degree, post-diploma,
postgraduate degree and research level.
Generally the entrance examination for admission in the diploma and
degree courses is held separately at all India level and state level.
However, the entrance examination for admission in the post graduate
degree and research programmes is done on an all India basis or state
basis.If one figures in the merit list of an entrance examination ,
he/she is placed on a platform from where one can choose a number of
career options available in the field of medicine. A candidate willing
to take admission in any medical college and hospital of the country
can choose to appear in any of the medical entrance examinations.
How to apply:
Prospectus and application forms can also be obtained by post from
Officer-in-Charge (Admission Cell), Armed Forces Medical College, Pune
- 411040 on payment of Rs. 250/- per copy.
Number of Seats:
A total of 130 students (105 boys & 25 girls) will be admitted.
Reservation:
10 seats of 130 are reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ST subject
to various provisions .
Course Duration:
4.5 years followed by compulsory rotating internship training period
of one year.
1 AFMC entrance exam requirements
General
1(A). Candidate should be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal
or Bhutan or a person of Indian Origin migrated from Pakistan or any
other foreign country with the intention of permanently settling in
India. Foreign nationals of Indian origin may be admitted only after
they have acquired Indian citizenship or in respect of whom a certificate
of eligibility is issued by the ministry of Home Affairs.
(B). Must be unmarried
(C) Should be medically fit as per prescribed standards by the Govt.
of India, Ministry of Defence
(D). Must be 17 years of age but must not have attained the age of 22years,
if the academic qualification of the candidate is 10+2 or equivalent.
A student who has passed B.Sc. examination or will be appearing in final
B.Sc. examination and seeking admission must not have attained the age
of 24 years
Eligibility:
A candidate who has cleared his/her 10+2 / equivalent with Physics,
Chemistry & Biology is eligible for appearing for the tests.
Dates:
MBBS Written Examination Date: March
MMBS Results of Written Exam: End May 2010, published in leading National
newspapers and Employment news.
Date of Interviews: In June 2010 at AFMC Pune. Exact dates will intimated
to successful candidates.
